Who we are?

BFC was founded in 2003. Its head office is in Zurich, Switzerland. BFC employs 50 permanent full time staff in branch offices located in Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan.

BFC believes that success in microfinance is built upon sound management, professional staff, and efficient systems. When these conditions are met funding will flow, allowing both the institutions and their clients to flourish. BFC assists microfinance service providers meet the needs of their clients while managing their growth well.

The primary goal of the assignment was to demonstrate the practical usage and impact of key approaches for achieving commercially viable and customer oriented micro-credit operations.

BFC developed and implemented a credit scoring system in order to assess the likelihood that micro and small business clients applying for loans will repay their loans on time.

Under the World Bank Study "Access to Financial Services in Pakistan" BFC undertook the project "How commercial banks could better serve small businesses in Pakistan" in November 2006—January 2007. The aim of the study was to better understand the financial needs of small businesses and the financial products currently available from commercial banks.

Armenia Microlending Programme (AMP) is a downscaling project implemented by EBRD and financed by USAID. Under the project seven commercial banks in Armenia

BFC has completed a feasibility study to inform its client on whether, how and with whom to partner for a planned commercial downscaling project targeting farmers and MSEs in rural Azerbaijan.
