Pakistan Financial Sector Study
Implementation period: November 2004—June 2005

BFC identified the best ways in which KfW could contribute to the development of the financial sector in Pakistan.

Assignment included:

  • Assessing the feasibility of different strategies for supporting Pakistan's financial sector;
  • Analyzing key features of demand based on 500 face-to-face interviews;
  • Developing actionable strategic recommendations that will guide major future investment decisions.

In particular, BFC explored possible opportunities to strengthen the sector's capacity to deliver financial services to currently underserved groups.

The study analyzed the current state of the financial sector, outlined national government and donor policies, estimated overall demand, and explored possible risks.
